Farnes May 2019
We are better at diving than we are at writing up trip reports! In 2019 members of JBOD dived in Egypt, Malta, the Maldives, Mauritius, Mexico, Shetlands, Farnes, Lochaline, Porth Ysgaden, Scapa Flow, Liverpool Docks, Wast Water, Eyemouth and trusty Capernwray quarry to name a few.
This Farnes trip was May 2019 and a combination of JBOD with a few of Sheffield Hallam Students Unions Club too to fill the spaces. Most stayed at the B&B belonging to the skipper but Hannah and Tom stayed elsewhere, but only a few minutes drive away so easy enough to sort cars and kit. Hannah, Tom and Tim had travelled from Sheffield, whereas the rest (Alistair, Andy, Arthur, Alan, Peter, John and Adrian (I think) were from Preston.
We dived with Serenity from their boat Mara Mhor. Loading and unloading was complicated by the ongoing pier works but the skipper's flexibility and loading on Friday night helped.
Usually the Farnes is all about wintery, shallow dives with the seals but this time of year,we went to dive the wrecks around the Farnes. We went to Blue Caps reef and the wrecks Coryton, Somali, and Abyssinia.
To make the trip super special, on the way back in, we were joined by a pod of dolphins for a long time as we cruised back to harbour.
